Al Nasr - Duba Club 101-53 There was no surprise in Riyadh where 11th ranked Duba Club (2-13) was crushed by second ranked Al Nasr (13-2) 101-53 on Friday. Al Nasr dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Duba Club's 34. Al Nasr forced 22 Duba Club turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international guard Khalid Abdel-Gabar (188-90, college: Windsor) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field). American power forward Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) helped adding 24 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Swedish point guard Rami Ghanem (185-93, college: Keyano) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al Nasr. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-2 record behind leader Al Hilal. Newly promoted Duba Club dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Al Nahda. Al Nasr will meet Ohod (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Duba Club will play against Al Ansar (#7) and hope to secure a win. It was a great evening for Canadian-Jordanian guard Freddy Ibrahim (190-96, college: Tampa) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Ali Shubayli (190-96) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and Turki Alsubaie scored 12 points and 4 assists. Al Ahly moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Salam. Al Nahda lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Duba Club. Al Ahly's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jeddah Al Ittihad. Al Salam had a 41-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: USA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Algerian center Touhami Ghezzoul (209-87, college: N.Dakota St.) helped adding 19 points and 16 rebounds. Stover is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Hesham Al Shareef with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and American center Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Al Salam maintains eighth place with 6-9 record, which they share with Al Ahly. Abha lost their fifteenth game in a row. Abha at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Al Salam will meet Al Nahda (#10) in the next round. Abha will play against Al Wehda in Mecca and hopes to get finally their first victory. They outrebounded Al Ansar 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Algerian forward Mohamed Harat (198-90) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. The former international point guard Mohammed Al-Saqer (179-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Armenian center Todd OBrien (211-89, college: UAB) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and forward Ayman Belal added 9 points respectively. Four Al Ansar players scored in double figures. Al Fateh moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Wehda. Al Ansar at the other side keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Al Fateh is looking forward to face league's leader Al Hilal in Riyadh in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Ansar will play on the road against Duba Club (#11) in Tabuk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win. Visiting Ohod was defeated by Al Ittihad in a tough game in Jeddah 85-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ohod. Al Ittihad players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a good game for the former international Mathna Almarwani (186-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Tunisian point guard Omar Abada (189-93) contributed with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American guard Shane Rector (188-94, college: Utah St.) answered with 31 points and 4 steals and Moroccan-Belgian center Khalid Boukichou (208-92) added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Ohod. Al Ittihad have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Ohod. Al Ittihad's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Jeddah to the arena Al Ahly. This time they beat 5th ranked Al Wehda (8-7) 82-71 in Riyadh. Al Hilal looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Antwan Scott (185-92, college: Colorado St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. International center Mohammed Alsuwailem (211-98) helped adding 21 points and 17 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international center Mohammed AlMarwani (206-89) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American-Bahrain Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Al Hilal maintains first place with 14-1 record. Loser Al Wehda keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Al Fateh. Al Hilal will meet Al Fateh (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Wehda will play against Abha and hope to secure a win.
